Before I was a celebrant, I was a writer. Actually, I still am, I've just found another to tell stories that matter.

I'm a best-selling author whose first book hit #1 on Audible (leapfrogging Michelle Obama and J.K. Rowling, no big deal). I've been a journalist, blogger, BBC broadcaster, and copywriter. I've written everything from viral blog posts to documentaries, articles about mental health to corporate learning content that paid well but nobody read.

Now I write ceremonies that change people's lives. But I’ll always be an author, too.

From Stories to Ceremonies

My first-ever writing project involved holding a sign in public that read "I WILL PAY ONE POUND FOR YOUR STORY." People told me about bungled armed robberies, falling in love, their worst days, their army years, their regrets. I paid them a quid and wrote down every word.

That's still what I do, really. I collect stories. I honour them. I turn them into something that matters.

Whether I'm writing a book about mental health, broadcasting a documentary for BBC Radio Wales, or crafting a funeral ceremony for someone's beloved grandmother – it's all storytelling. It's all about making people feel seen, heard, and understood.

    My first book, My Sh*t Therapist and other mental health stories, was published in 2019 and became a bestseller. Book 2 is coming in 2027. I write about mental health, body image, therapy, and what it means to be human.

    I've presented a documentary for BBC Radio Wales, written articles for The Guardian, Metro, Stylist and more, and created a viral blog post about being fat-shamed by a Tinder date that launched my career as an author and broadcaster.
